E-learning (electronic learning or digital learning) covers all forms of learning in which electronic or digital media are used for the presentation and distribution of learning materials and/or to support interpersonal communication.
The advantage here is that digital platforms can be used for a non-location-based exchange of knowledge between two or more people. Particularly popular fields of application can be found in the university sector, for example. In online courses, entire courses can sometimes be completed without ever setting foot on a campus.
Elite universities such as Harvard and Stanford now also offer such training opportunities.
