The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are political objectives of the United Nations that are intended to promote sustainable development worldwide. The goals encompass social, ecological and economic dimensions. They came into force on January 1, 2016 with a term of 15 years (until 2030), with all countries in the world expected to contribute to achieving them. In German, the SDGs are also referred to as Agenda 2030.
