Tyrolean tourism is one of the most important employers in the country and plays a central role within the Austrian tourism sector. A total of around 52,400 people work in the Tyrolean hotel and catering industry, as the latest AMS figures for January 2025 show. This means that more than a fifth of all tourism employees in Austria work in Tyrol. After an already high level in the previous year, the industry has once again recorded a slight increase in employment of +0.7 percent. The highly international nature of the labor market is particularly significant: around 70 percent of employees working in Tirol come from abroad and make a significant contribution to the functioning of this tourism-intensive federal state. Tyrol therefore remains a key driver of the Austrian tourism labor market and, despite seasonal fluctuations, shows a stable and still growing employment trend.
