Sweden in the 2022/23 tourism year
The travel behavior of Swedes in Tyrol over the years shows a clear preference for the winter season and clear growth trends.
In the Tyrolean guest mix, Swedes rank 12thfor overnight stays in winter with a market share of 0.8%. In summer, their share is significantly lower at 0.3% and 16th place. It is remarkable that a third (34%) of Swedes who spend their vacation in Austria choose Tyrol as their destination. One factor that could support Swedes' travel activity is their above-average GDP per capita, which stood at €53,690 in 2022 .
The winter season dominates the travel behavior of Swedes in Tirol with 73% of overnight stays. In the last 20 winter seasons, there has been strong growth in both arrivals (+67%) and overnight stays (+45%). A year-on-year comparison also shows strong growth again in winter, with +30% in arrivals and +22% in overnight stays. The most popular vacation regions for Swedes in winter are St. Anton am Arlberg, Paznaun-Ischgl and Ötztal Tourismus.
In summer, too, there was growth in arrivals (+38%) and overnight stays (+4%) in a comparison of the last 20 summer seasons. In a year-on-year comparison, there was also growth in arrivals in summer (+5%), while overnight stays stagnated at +0.6%. The top 3 vacation regions in summer are Innsbruck Tourismus, Osttirol and Ötztal Tourismus.
