Alpine Impact Days

Radical.Honest.Innovative.
The second edition of the Alpine Impact Days will take place in October 2024. Lena Obermair from Impact Hub Tirol explains why these are also exciting for tourism professionals.

F.acT: What are the Alpine Impact Days and what is their aim?

Lena Obermair: In the heart of alpine-urban Innsbruck, everything revolves around the new, the innovative, the unprecedented on October 10 & 11! The Alpine Impact Days are not a business conference as we know it - rather, they are a happening, a festival of ideas and emotions that celebrates diversity and demands innovation. Together with 200 participants and over 30 renowned speakers, we are building a future fit for grandchildren. The Alpine Impact Days are intended to create a platform for the pioneers of the impact scene in Tyrol and beyond and to be a hub for entrepreneurs, activists, experts and interested parties. Unusual formats, interactive elements and a diverse audience will create a space for groundbreaking ideas. In keynotes, breakout sessions and workshops, exciting topics and contrasts will be addressed, such as "G'standene Wirtschaft trifft wokeness culture" or "Gemeinwohl trifft Profit".

F.acT: What's new this year?

Lena Obermair : After we ran a successful pilot project last year with the then one-day Alpine Impact Day, we are being bolder in the second edition! Not only are our participant numbers growing from 70 to 200, but our speakers and experts are also becoming even more international, progressive and sometimes even controversial. Our aim with this event is to create real encounters, break down barriers and facilitate intensive exchange. This is also reflected in this year's motto: "Radical. Honest. Innovative." We believe that we need to transform our economic systems in a socio-ecological way in order to create a world fit for the future. And this requires people who are willing to break new ground together and collaboratively and create real impact through innovation. We offer the platform for such changemakers with the Alpine Impact Days.

F.acT: Why should tourism professionals also take part in the Alpine Impact Days?

Lena Obermair: The question is actually quite simple to answer: anyone who is interested in innovative, new ways of thinking and living the economy should not miss the Alpine Impact Days. Of course, the tourism region of Tyrol is also reflected thematically in our program: be it through breakout sessions on soft tourism, a panel on the future of the Alps or insights into innovations in tourism, such as MATR, a circular economy solution for mattresses in the hotel industry. But I believe that the Alpine Impact Days are a cross-sectoral enrichment, especially due to the variety of topics covered and the diversity of the participants. And not only for people who are already very familiar with the impact economy, but also for all those who are interested in the topic and want to leave their usual "bubble" for two days to learn more about social and ecological innovations and take away some inspiration for their own company.

Lena Obermair

During her Marketing Management and Tourism studies at MCI, Lena focused on queer-feminist topics, inclusion and intersectionality, particularly in her final thesis. The desire to contribute to anchoring social and ecological justice in our economic system and thus create a future worth living for all of us led her to Impact Hub Tirol.
