Podcasts - Part 2

Knowledge to listen to for the hotel & catering industry
In the second podcast edition, we look at interesting content specifically for the accommodation and hospitality industry and dare to look beyond the boundaries of tourism.
Dr. Birgit Bosio, university lecturer at MCI Tourism

After we dealt with general audio content for tourism in part 1 of the podcast series, in the 2nd edition we would like to take a look specifically at the hotel & catering industry as well as at non-tourism, but nevertheless inspiring formats.

The following international podcasts may be of particular interest to the accommodation industry :

  • The Fuel Hotel Marketing Podcast has been offering marketing tips and tricks for accommodation providers since 2016.
  • Lodging Leaders is one of the oldest weekly podcasts and interviews leading accommodation providers.
  • Behind the Traveler Design is a podcast from the Mariott hotel chain that specializes in hotel design.
  • Suite Spot is a marketing podcast for hotels from the Travel Media Group, which has been published every two weeks since 2018.
  • Smart Hotelkey is a new podcast by Marco Riederer that deals with all issues relating to the hotel industry.

If you look around the world, there are also a number of podcasts for the hospitality sector :

But there are also interesting business podcasts outside the travel industry, which can also be exciting for tourism professionals.

  • The podcast"The Digital Strategist" is brand new. In the first episode, Mario Eckmaier talks to Matthias Winkler from Hotel Sacher about the role of digitalization.
  • Since March 2021, Wondery'sThe Secret Sauce has been looking at the recipes for success of various business models, including Airnbnb.
  • The podcast by the Climate and Energy Fund, Folgewirkung, on the other hand, deals with the effects of human activity on nature and the environment. The current issue #14 also deals with the topic of vacations.
  • Hubspot recently presented the 14 most inspiring marketing podcasts.
  • Another compilation on the topic of marketing is also available from t3n.

Since the publication of part 1 of the podcast series, new podcast formats have also been launched:

  • Be/r\gegnungen by Vitalpin has been on air since mid-June and deals with the future of Alpine tourism. The first episode is about Alpine tourism and the pandemic. Hannes Parth, Marcus Caduff from Graubünden and Harald Pechlaner from South Tyrol discuss the topic.
  • Also brand new are the podcast from the Faculty of Tourism Management at Kempten University of Applied Sciences, Rethinking Tourism - Between Tradition and Modernity, which addresses topics such as the distribution of the future and crisis management in tourism, as well as the podcast from the University of Bolzano called unibz insight.

Which podcasts do you think we have missed?
