Tourism is an important economic sector in many countries. The monetary size and value added of this economic sector are usually presented in the so-called Tourism Satellite Account (TSA), which is compiled as a subsystem of the national accounts. This is necessary because the tourism industry is not represented as a separate economic sector in the national accounts, but the tourism share must be subtracted from the various economic sectors. In order to ensure uniform recording, the OECD, UNWTO and EUROSTAT have drawn up recommendations and guidelines for the compilation of a TSA.
