Denmark in the tourism year 2022/23
Danish tourism plays a role in the Tyrolean guest mix, with around a third (35%) of Danes who spend their vacations in Austria traveling to Tyrol. In winter, Denmark ranks 9th in terms of overnight stays in the Tyrolean guest mix, which corresponds to a share of 1.5%. In summer, Denmark ranks 12th with a share of 0.8% of overnight stays.
Winter significantly dominates Danish tourism in Tirol and accounts for 68% of overnight stays. In the last 20 winter seasons, there has been growth in both arrivals (+43%) and overnight stays (+29%). Year-on-year growth in arrivals (+17%) and overnight stays (+15%) was also recorded during the winter. The top 3 regions in winter for Danish tourists are Paznaun-Ischgl, Ötztal Tourismus and St. Anton am Arlberg.
Positive developments can also be observed in summer: Over the last 20 summer seasons, there has been strong growth in arrivals (+87%) and overnight stays (+41%). In a year-on-year comparison of the summer, arrivals rose by 5% and overnight stays by 6.5%. The top 3 regions in summer are Innsbruck Tourismus, Kitzbüheler Alpen - Brixental and Ötztal Tourismus.
A relevant aspect is the economic power of Danish tourists, as they have an above-average GDP per capita, which was € 64,450 in 2022.
