ALPINE AWARENESS CAMPS is a cross-border Interreg project which, with the Awareness Camps, is developing and testing a new offer in the field of sustainable, digitally-supported tourism in the period 01.09. 2023 - 31.08. 2026 and making it available to a broad target group via a digital platform.
The project responds to the challenges of a constantly growing trend towards outdoor sports. Skiing, biking, climbing and other trend sports in open terrain not only mean an increased individual safety risk, but also lead to an increasing burden on nature and the environment, as well as conflicts of use with different interest groups.
The aim of the project is therefore to raise awareness of the sensitivity of Alpine ecosystems and create targeted training opportunities for sustainable and responsible outdoor sports. At the same time, solutions are also being developed for the transnational digital networking of tourism services. Both the camps and the platform will be jointly developed and tested by Austrian and Bavarian partners and made available to important tourism stakeholders in the program region, such as tourism associations, for their own qualifications. The outputs of the project at a glance:
- Study on the understanding of sustainability and the need for training in outdoor sports for universities, tourism associations and regional authorities
- Didactic and content concept for the AAC formats (awareness camps, train-the-trainer workshops, awareness events): for TVBs and other multipliers
- 6 pilot camps on the topics of SNOW, BIKE, CLIMB: for participants, pilot destinations
- 2 cross-border impulse events for regional partners and two "train-the-trainer workshops" to qualify mountain guides and guides
- Digital platform with integrated sustainability tools: for the outdoor sports community, TVBs, regional management
