F.acT: How did the Wellness Trend Radar come about, and what is the goal behind it?

Cornelia Rützler: We—the Lebensraum Tirol Gruppe —use the Wellness Trend Radar as a method to identify early on which developments will be relevant to the Tyrolean wellness industry, so that we can identify opportunities and take timely action.

For the Wellness Trend Radar, we selected 35 relevant wellness and longevity trends from over 300 mega- and macro-trends. Thirty-five industry experts evaluated and discussed these trends in terms of their impact on guests, their level of maturity, and the capabilities of Tyrolean businesses. From this, we have identified the top 5 trends for the next five years.

Our goal is to provide guidance for the entire Tyrolean wellness industry and to offer concrete ideas for the future development of offerings in Tyrol.

F.acT: What top trends have you identified?

Cornelia Rützler: We have identified the following five trends for the next five years:

  • A growing connection to ature
  • Healthy indulgence
  • Mental relaxation
  • Sleep quality
  • Human connections (reimagined)

F.acT: What future opportunities does this present for Tyrolean tourism—and how can tourism professionals take concrete advantage of them?

Cornelia Rützler: These five trends show one thing above all: With its alpine natural beauty, expertise in wellness, and quality of hospitality, Tyrol already has a strong foundation. The key will be to further develop these strengths in a targeted manner.

Nature should not merely serve as a backdrop, but rather be an integral part of the offering—for example, through nature experiences, physical activity, rejuvenation, and “nature indoors,” which can also be enjoyed during the off-seasons.

Healthy indulgence offers potential for regional, seasonal, and health-conscious cuisine. Personalized nutrition and offerings tailored to different life stages can appeal to additional target groups.

When it comes to mental relaxation, businesses can create low-threshold offerings such as meditation, mindfulness, breathing exercises, retreats, or digital detoxes—ideally combined with nature and routines suitable for everyday life.

Sleep quality opens up a particularly interesting area for positioning: quiet rooms, sleep coaches, suitable sleep environments, sleep retreats, or personalized routines can address a need that is still largely unmet.

And finally, it’s important to remember that digitalization should not replace people, but rather give them more space. When routine tasks are supported digitally, employees can invest more time in personal care and genuine hospitality. This is precisely where Tyrol’s great strength lies.
